Cervical Herniated Disc Treatment

Have you experienced chronic neck pain that radiates through your arms, jaw and face? You may be suffering from a cervical herniated disc. The cervical spine or neck area is exposed to constant wear and tear, especially from pivoting as it supports the head and neck. This continual use can lead to injuries to the spine when one of the cervical discs is compressed, leading to a cervical herniated disc. At Atlanta Spine, this is just one of the many spinal, neck and back injuries that Dr. Bhatti provides effective treatments for at our office to improve your quality of life.

Symptoms and Causes of Herniated Discs

Cervical herniated discs can happen slowly over time or from an injury. The disc can be flattened and pressured from the surrounding vertebrae from wear and tear or from injury, causing the disc lining to rupture. When this happens, the fluid inside the disc can leak into the spinal canal, impacting the nerves. This can cause excruciating neck pain that can also be felt through the arm and jaw.

In many cases, a herniated disc can be treated through manipulation and physical therapy. However, if relief is not gained through non-surgical methods, Dr. Bhatti may recommend a minimally invasive surgical option. Using only a small incision, the pressure on the nerve can often be relieved with a much quicker recovery time than traditional neck surgery.

In more severe cases, the herniated disc may need to be removed and replaced with an implant to relieve the stress on the surrounding area.

At Atlanta Spine, our goal is always to relieve your spinal, neck or back pain as quickly and as effectively as possible. Dr. Bhatti can recommend different options for treatment, including non-surgical and less invasive procedures for many conditions. Contact us today to schedule your consultation regarding your cervical herniated disc.
